33rd Annual ASID Showcase House 530 North Euclid Avenue Oak Park, IL Circle
October 3, 2004 on your calendar. That's the day the Oak Park-River
Forest Infant Welfare Society's 33rd Annual ASID Designer Showcase
House opens to the public. It continues through October 24. A
historic circa 1905 home at 530 Euclid Avenue in Oak Park has been
loaned by its current owners for the popular annual event. Designed by
prominent architect George Washington Maher (pronounced MAY her) for Charles R. Erwin,
an internationally-known pioneer in the advertising industry, the house
is recognized as one of the architect's distinctive interpretations of
Prairie-style architecture. It is one of seven Maher-designed
properties in Oak Park. The
historic property includes 23 rooms, each of which has been assigned to
a member the American Society of Interior Designers. This select group
of professionals (and landscapers) will style the distinctive residence
as a presentation piece for their respective talents, at the same time
introducing some decorative innovations.
